Protoplanetary disk

The protoplanetary disk of a young star is the disk of gas and dust surrounding it, from which planets may form.

Recent studies tend to prove that brown dwarfs, or even smaller celestial objects called "planemos", are also surrounded by a protoplanetary disk.
