IATA
IATA (International Air Transport Association)
An association created in 1945 in Havana (Cuba), gathering together the majority of airline companies in the world with the aim of favouring the development of air transport and unifying and coordinating international standards and regulations.
The IATA is active in the field of passenger and freight safety and security, the improvement and modernisation of services and the reduction and optimisation of costs.
One of the first measures taken by the association was to identify the world’s airports and airlines using unique IATA codes that serve as standards for the exchange of information between air transport market actors, greatly simplifying these exchanges and facilitating the development of electronic tickets.
