Over-packaging
Over-packaging is packaging considered to be excessive as it does not fulfil a condition or a function deemed necessary, such as in a production, packaging and transportation process, product protection, safety or consumer information.
Dangers of over-packaging
Over-packaging generates an economic cost that is passed on to the consumer and then to waste treatment entities.
This packaging also generates an environmental cost: raw materials and energy consumed for the production and recycling of the excessive packaging, environmental pollution, etc.
Over-packaging causes an increase of the volume of waste for recycling. © Boris Drenec CC by-nc-sa 2.0
