Compact fluorescent lamp
Compact fluorescent lamps (CFL), also called fluorescent lamps, or compact fluo lamps, are low energy consumption lamps made with a fluorescent tube (sometimes concealed in a second bulb) and an electronic ballast.
Advantages of compact fluorescent lamps
Without a filament, compact fluorescent lamps have a much longer service life than incandescent light bulbs. They contain a mixture of argon, mercury vapour and fluorescent powders that emit light by fluorescence under the effect of an electric current.
This mechanism provides higher output than incandescent lamps, including halogens, and produces less heat.
