MIT
The Massachusetts Institute of Technology, the MIT, is a famous American university in the state of Massachusetts, close to Boston. Founded in the 19th century to meet the growing demand for engineers, the institute became pluridisciplinary but maintained science teaching that is largely experimental and with technological and industrial applications. Many Nobel prize winners have come from the MIT or are teachers there.
In 2002, the MIT made a large part of its courses freely available on the internet ; covering such subjects as quantum field theory, philosophy, architecture, linguistics or politics.
