Incandescence

Incandescence is a physical phenomenon in which light is emitted from a body subjected to very high temperatures.

The intensity and colour of the emitted light depend on the temperature of the surface of the emitting body: yellow-red around 1600°C, white around 5000°C, bluish in excess of 8000°C.
