Palmitic acid

Palmitic acid is a saturated fatty acid.

Animal fats contain 20 to 30% palmitic acid. It is also found in large amounts in some oily vegetables such as palm oil (which contains 35 to 45%), a saturated plant fat often used in the food industry (biscuits, cakes, margarine). Cocoa oil is also rich in palmitic acid.
