Liposome

A liposome is an artificial lipid vesicle (the membrane of which is formed from one or more lipid bilayers) which for example is able to encapsulate and protect proteins or genetic material. Because of this property, liposomes are used as vectors or carriers in pharmacology (carriers of active substances) and in genetics (gene transfer).
