fMRI (functional nuclear magnetic resonance imaging) is a magnetic resonance imaging technique to map the functional activities of the brain. it involves measuring the oxygenation (oxyhemoglobin/deoxyhemoglobin ratio), which increases locally in areas activated after an increased supply of fresh blood.
