Fibroadenoma

A fibroadenoma is a benign tumour which may affect the breast. It is common and mainly occurs in girls or women between 20 and 30 years of age.

The diagnosis can be made from mammography and ultrasound. A biopsy can be taken if the diagnosis is uncertain.

A fibroadenoma under three centimetres in size in an adolescent does not warrant routine initial treatment and it is reasonable but to monitor it.
