Femur
The femur is the longest bone in the human skeleton.
Location of the femur
The femur is the thigh bone, located between the pelvis and the knee.
Structure of the femur
The femur is the longest bone in the skeleton and is also the thickest and most solid. It is composed of two epiphyses, attached by a long diaphysis. The superior head of the femur is formed from a sphere connected to the rest of the bone by the neck of the femur. It fits into the hip bone of the pelvis, forming the hip joint.
Function of the femur
The femur allows a body to stand upright and to walk and run because of its articulation with the hip at one end and the patella and tibia on the other.
