Excision

Excision is a surgical procedure in which an organ, tumour, diseased foreign body or one of no value is removed.

Excision procedure

Excision is therefore performed by a specialist doctor or in an operating theatre depending on the part of the body to be removed. It is generally carried out under local or general anaesthesia.

Excision-biopsy

Excision-biopsy involves removing all of a lesion from which the tissue is analysed in the same way as a biopsy (by anatomical pathology examination)
