Endocarditis
Endocarditis is an inflammation of the wall of the heart valves, which is usually caused by infection. Most people who are affected by this disease are more than 50 years old and are suffering from cardiac damage. Nevertheless, it may be seen in small children.
Two types of endocarditis
There are two types of endocarditis: infectious and non-infectious. Prompt treatment can cure 90% of people suffering frominfectious endocarditis whereasnon-infectious endocarditis is more difficult to treat.
