Clavicle
The clavicle is a long bone in the chest.
Location of the clavicle
The clavicle is a shoulder bone located between the sternum and the scapula.
Structure of the clavicle
The clavicle is the shape of a long S with only one epiphysis at the sternoclavicular joint. Its name comes from the Latin clavicula which means "small key" », as it turns on itself like a key when the arm moves.
Function of the clavicle
The clavicle and the scapula form the upper limb girdle. Their own mobility with respect to the trunk provides the arm with its amplitude of movement.
