Aldolase

Aldolase is an enzyme belonging to the lyase family which catalyses cleavage of fructose-1,6-bisphosphate into glyceraldehyde-3-phosphate and dihydroxyacetone phosphate. The reaction is reversible. The exact name of the enzyme is: fructose-1,6-bisphosphate aldolase (several other aldolases exist).
