Adjuvant

Adjuvant refers to an auxiliary treatment intended to supplement the main treatment. The term adjuvant describes the administration of medicines or radiation after surgical treatment of a tumour to avoid a local recurrence or the formation of metastases (as opposed to neo-adjuvant).
