Wi-Fi
Wireless Fidelity or wireless Ethernet A local network of the Ethernet type with wireless access giving theoretical speeds of up to 11 Mbit/s in theory (or 5 Mbit/s divided between connected users) in the 2.4 GHz frequency band.
WI-FI hardware complies with the IEEE 802.11 family of standards for wireless communication in an Ethernet network.
Indoors, the radio range of Wi-Fi is able to pass through reinforced concrete walls or up floors (a maximum of 3) but in these conditions the speed slows down to 1Mb/s before signal loss, and the range can drop to 15 metres. Most of the time inside buildings, the range is reckoned at 25 metres in dense environments (large obstacles) and 60 metres when there are just thin partitions to cross.
