Quartz sand

Quartz sand when used in a filter, intercepts all of the particles suspended in water. Filtration through a bed of quartz sand is a practice widely used in waste water treatment installations. Found in compact form as sandstone, quartz sand is also one of the main ingredients in ceramics.
