These devices are essentially a diary and address book; they include increasingly elaborate functions and can compare quite favourably with a desktop PC. They can play mp3 and videos and can contain applications that transform them into GPS navigation systems, for example. Two main families compete: those operating under Palm OS and those under PocketPC. They each have as many additional applications available.
