Google Bombing

Google Bombing is when several people create hypertext links to a site associated with a pejorative word or expression. When using a Google type search engine with these words, the targeted site appears at the top of the list of results because of the multitude of artificially created links.

Several celebrities have been victims of this practice. For example, president George W. Bush was a victim at the end of 2003 targeted by opponents of the war in Iraq. In 2007, when the expression "Miserable failure" was googled, the White House site with the biography of the president was at the top of the list of results.
