CNT: Carbon Nanotubes. Nanotubes are used as electron emitters directly modelled on CRT screens but much thinner. Zvi Yaniv, the managing director of Applied Nanotech, estimates that “the investment needed to produce this type of screen is less than 80% of that required for LCD or plasma screens” and predicts that “when it comes to mass production, a 60 inch TV screen based on CNT technology could cost less than $1200 (1000 Euros, £800)”.
