Olivine

Olivine is a common mineral in eruptive rocks, its chemical formula is (Mg,Fe)2SiO4.
The infra-red satellite ISO has detected this mineral of the silicate family in the dust disks surrounding young stars just after their formation, and in the dust trail of the Hale-Bopp comet.
