Crystal form

A crystal form is the polyhedral form of a crystal delimited by crystal faces.

There are 47 crystal forms. Each form is characterised by:

  • multiplicity (i.e. the number of faces) which depends on the symmetry of the crystal and the orientation of the original face with respect to the symmetry elements of the crystal;
  • its own symmetry ;
  • its official name.
