Snuppy

This Afghan hound was the first dog in the world to be cloned . Professor Hwang Woo-suk's group took three years of research and more than 1,000 eggs from 122 dogs before he was born. After a review of the way in which the results on the human embryonic stem cells were handled by Professor Hwang, Snuppy's status as a clone was questioned. An expert committee from Seoul and a team of American researchers confirmed Snuppy's status in the March 2006 edition of the journal Nature.
