Substitution

Chemistry Substitution is the replacement of one or more atoms in a chemical compound by one or more other atoms. Substitution requires certain conditions: (1) similarity of atomic radii; (2) compensation of electrical charges; (3) temperature, substitutions generally occur more readily if the temperature is increased.
