Spore formation
Spore formation is a mechanism used to form and release spores.
A means of reproduction
A large number of plant species, bacteria and fungi form spores, for sexual as well as asexual reproduction.
A means of survival
Spores are highly resistant life forms that can survive in unfavourable environmental conditions. Due to their ability to survive for a long time, they can also be dispersed by the wind or animals, in order to colonise more hospitable areas.
