Cladode

A cladode is a specialised branch that has the appearance of, and functions of, a leaf: wide, flat and photosynthetic.

The racquets of the prickly pear (Opuntia ficus-indica) or the leaves of the butcher's broom (Ruscus aculeatus) are in fact cladodes.

What seem to be the leaves of this Semele androgyna are actually branches.
