Cherry
Cherry season
Cherries are summer fruit, which are picked around the month of July.
Nutritional value of cherries
Rich in water and potassium (250 milligrammes per 150 grammes), cherries have diuretic properties and contain fibre, which stimulates intestinal functions. The cherry is one of the most high calorie red fruit, due to its high sugar content. It contains lots of vitamin C and provitamin A.
Cherry varieties
About a dozen varieties of cherries are grown in France. These varieties include, for example, the griotte, a lively red and tangy variety, and the Sainte Marie, sweeter, which turns black.
