Niacin

Niacin is nicotinic acid, vitamin B3, vitamin PP, or anti-pellagra vitamin. It is a water-soluble vitamin that is part of the structure of NAD and NADP, co-enzymes required for many redox reactions. Foods which are rich in proteins (meat, poultry, fish, yeast, peanuts) are good sources of niacin. The vitamin is also produced in inadequate amounts from tryptophan in the human body. Niacin deficiency causes pellagra.
